Spenser T. Smith

Spenser Smith joined the firm in March of 2018, becoming a partner in 2022. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from North Carolina State University before obtaining her Juris Doctorate from Elon University School of Law in 2015, where she was a recipient of the Oaks Scholarship.

With an eye for detail, Spenser takes a thorough and methodical approach to each case, ensuring nothing is overlooked and her clients feel comfortable navigating each stage of litigation. Spenser’s practice is focused on civil litigation, primarily personal injury defense and employment law litigation. In her personal injury defense work, Spenser regularly represents individuals, businesses, and insurance carriers in claims involving automobile accidents, premises liability, and construction-related disputes. She is experienced in evaluating claims, managing discovery, and presenting strong defenses at both the trial and appellate levels.

Spenser also has extensive experience in employment law. She has represented businesses in a full range of employment-related claims, including sexual harassment, employment discrimination, wrongful discharge, and retaliation. In addition, she provides strategic counseling to private companies, insurance carriers, and their insureds before State and Federal courts and has significant experience representing clients before the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the North Carolina Department of Labor, and other state and local agencies and authorities.

Outside of her legal career, Spenser enjoys family life with her husband and two daughters.
